Oh so many years ago on a beautiful Spring day
A young man and woman were starting on their way
They stood before the preacher and happily said I Do
Knowing that the love they had would last their whole  lives through.

Then came two beautiful baby girls to brighten up their home,
And no truer or deeper love had either of them known
The girls grew in wisdom, faith and love each passing day,
Their two babies grew up and what beautiful women they made.

Momma and daddy watched their children all along life's way
And thanked God as their girls grew stronger every day,
Then one day God called Momma home, such sorrow we've never known,
Daddy stayed strong for us, knowing his girls needed a home.

His girls grew up and married, giving him grandchildren to love
Then God called his eldest child to be with Him in heaven above
His heart was grieved, but through the years, his hurting heart has healed
Yet he only has to think of them and his losses are still so real

Now daddy has grown old and weak, each day he suffers pain,
He often wonders why, what is there left for him to gain,
He loves the Lord and has served Him well, each and every day
He waits patiently for God to guide him on along life's way

And when that final day comes, when Jesus says well done
Lay down your burdens son, into my waiting arms come,
His earthly journey finished, his life's work at its end,
Daddy's eternal walk with Jesus, Praise the Lord, will begin.
